This year, to celebrate National Engineers Week (February 21 – February 27) our team is making a donation to Engineers Without Borders in the hope of inspiring our future WJH team members. We are also highlighting our engineers! Meet our talented engineers & learn their favorite parts of their jobs!

Walter Hopkin 

What is the favorite part of your job? Getting our clients an approval- it’s like winning a game!

What is your favorite engineering tool or software? The one-man robotic survey instrument (even though I don’t use it)

What type of work do you specialize in? Driving out team crazy

What is the favorite project that you’ve work on for WJH? They are all my favorites- they are like my kids 😉

Joseph Malison

What is the favorite part of your job? Working with the client managing projects from the conceptual design vision to an as-built with the least amount of governmental bureaucracy along the way.

What is your favorite engineering tool or software? My curved or elastic scale.  I can always make any site improvement item fit.

What type of work do you specialize in? Jack of all trades. From the initial wetlands and  environmental impact analysis to the conceptual and the constructed layout of an attractive community or site plan.

What is the favorite project that you’ve work on for WJH? Rising Sun Meadows Luxury apartments and Townhomes.  A 227-unit community with clubhouse and walking trails around a decorative pond located in my own Township.

Peter Bennett

What is the favorite part of your job? Really like the start to finish, Surveyors are the first ones on the job and last ones off.

What is your favorite engineering tool or software? Surveying with GPS. It’s truly amazing how GPS has changed the way we work.

What type of work do you specialize in?  Supervise all aspects of the survey department. Prepare all scheduling of field work. Work closely with the cadd department and Engineers to prepare surveys from start to design and construction.

What is the favorite project that you’ve work on for WJH? 1600 Livingston South Brunswick twin 300,000 S.F. warehouses. We were responsible for all the steel and concrete panel stake out.

John Lentini

What is the favorite part of your job? Creating Color Renderings for completed projects to be used for presentations.

What is your favorite engineering tool or software? AutoCad 2021 and AutoTurn

What type of work do you specialize in? Work with engineers sketches and designs to create working construction drawings using AutoCad.

What is the favorite project that you’ve work on for WJH? Rising Sun Meadows – Bordentown – Site Plan and Major Subdivision

James Byrd

What is the favorite part of your job? I am always working something different almost every day.

What is your favorite engineering tool or software? Autocadd software.

What type of work do you specialize in?  The type of work that I do is draft up Surveys, Final Asbuilts and a few Minor Subdivision Plans. Can do Landscape Plans also

What is the favorite project that you’ve work on for WJH? Favorite project that I worked on is River Links in Ewing.

 

Jonathan Damora

What is the favorite part of your job? When the solution is not obvious.

What is your favorite engineering tool or software? HEC RAS

What type of work do you specialize in?  Stormwater is my main wheelhouse. Everything from standard runoff calculations to flood elevation analyses and floodway delineations.  Beyond that I do general Civil site design and layout.

What is the favorite project that you’ve work on for WJH? A recent project where we were asked for help to solve a long standing and sometimes extensive flooding/runoff problem. The solution to the problem is yet to be implemented, but I enjoyed the unique aspect of analyzing the problem in order to determine a list of solutions.

 

Michael Hanna

What is the favorite part of your job? Solving problems

What is your favorite engineering tool or software? Hydroflow

What type of work do you specialize in? Prepare site plans, subdivision plans, and drainage reports. Obtain approvals from the county township and states (NJDEP) and get approvals for water and sewer main extensions

What is the favorite project that you’ve work on for WJH? All of them

 

 Kevin Baccaro

What is the favorite part of your job? Collaborating with others and finding solutions to problems

What is your favorite engineering tool or software? AutoCAD 2021

What type of work do you specialize in? Preparing plot plans, septic design plans, pool/grading plans, and site plans, as well as attaining state and township approvals

What is the favorite project that you’ve work on for WJH? No favorite. All are great in their own way!
